Helicopters from numerous local, county, state and federal public safety agencies converged on Hansen Dam Recreation Park in Los Angeles on June 20, 2015 for the American Heroes Air Show. The event was open to the public and free of charge, featuring static displays, airborn demonstrations and interactive displays.

On 1-9-15 at around 2pm LAFD and LAPD personnel responded to numerous reports of a small airplane down in the intersection of Vanowen and Hayvenhurst in the Van Nuys area of Los Angeles. The pilot of this experimental aircraft was reportedly doing touch-and-goes at nearby Van Nuys Airport when, just after take-off, the aircraft reportedly fell from the sky. Aside from the single fatality (pilot) no other injuries were reported.

On June 22, 2014 a small brush ignited above Brand Park in Glendale, California. The fire quickly grew to 10 acres and burned in rugged terrain limiting primary firefighting efforts to aircraft. LAFD and LACoFD helicopters joined forces with ground crews to limit the fire to approximately 150 acres. No structures were lost in this fire and only minor injuries were reported as numerous hikers were assisted from trails in and around the fire. All images © Craig Durling
Paid a visit to the annual American Heroes Air Show at Hansen Dam Recreation Area in Los Angeles. This is a great show with helicopters, live demonstrations, helicopter rides, food and vendor booths. At just after 8pm on May 27, 2014 LAFD units responding to 1809 Hancock Street in Lincoln Heights reported heavy fire showing from an automotive scrap yard with explosions reported. They immediately requested two additional task forces ultimately bringing nearly 100 firefighters to the scene. One minor firefighter injury was reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
At around noon on March 8, 2014 units from LAFD and Burbank Fire responded to a rollover traffic collision with a sheared hydrant at Cabrini Drive and Glenoaks Blvd in Sun Valley. The driver of a white van, who was transported to an area hospital, reportedly struck several parked cars and trees coming down Cabrini Drive ultimately. One parked vehicle was struck so hard it rolled over onto the grass after being pushed for over 30 feet. No other injuries were reported and the exact cause of the collision is under investigation by LAPD.
