At approximately 7:45pm on April 7, 2015 LAFD responded to a reported high-rise structure fire at 1543 W. Olympic Blvd in the Westlake District of Los Angeles. Upon arrival heavy fire was seen from the upper floor with occupants trapped inside and seen in upper level windows trying to escape the flames and smoke. Over 170 firefighters soon arrived to the seen and kept the fire confined to the original floor. After numerous rescues only minor injuries were reported.
It was out as quickly as it started. A fire in a large commercial building in the 9300 block of Glenoaks Blvd in Sun Valley around 11pm on May 14, 2015 revealed a marijuana grow operation inside. LAFD units quickly extinguished a dramatic fire which was ultimately contained to the roof of the building. No injuries were reported.
A daytime fire in the rear of a flooring/carpet store in downtown Burbank quickly escalated to a 4th alarlm bringing in resources from several neighboring communities. The fire consumed Beauty Kiss Carpets at 140 S. Glenoaks in Burbank.
A three alarm fire broke out in the early morning hours of Memorial Day, May 27, 2013 consuming the second floor of a 2-story residentail-over-commercial structure at 235 1/2 N. Brand Blvd in downtown Glendale, California. Jumpers were reported upon arrival of first-in units and received minor injuries. A rekindle of this fire later in the day also reached a third alarm due to the fire building being situated within an entire block of commercials.
