A fun mini-movie of a recent flight from Tokyo (Haneda) to Los Angeles (LAX) on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. Business Class on American Airlines. Enjoy!
A fast-moving brush fire has consumed over 5,000 acres in the hills just north of Los Angeles threatening homes in nearby communities. Hundreds of firefighters and law enforcement officers from numerous agencies have converged on the fire to battle the erratic fire behavior as well as facilitate evacuations and residential security. © Craig Durling / durlingmedia.com
At just before 2pm on February 22, 2016 the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a reported physical rescue traffic collision at San Fernando and Osborne in Pacoima. While en route the call was updated to a small aircraft down in the roadway. Arriving units found a single engine aircraft down in the roadway at San Fernando and Correnti. Two parked vehicles were apparently struck, tearing a piece of the aircraft's landing gear off. Early reports were that the pilot experienced a wind event causing him to put the aircraft down. Luckily, there were no injuries reported, including the pilot. ©Craig Duriing/DurlingMedia

The pilot of this experimental aircraft was reportedly doing touch-and-goes at nearby Van Nuys Airport when, just after take-off, the aircraft reportedly fell from the sky. While skimming through some old footage I came across some stuff I shot TEN YEARS AGO while on a tour of Fox Air Tanker Base in Palmdale, CA. Fox is home to the region's air resources for the United States Forest Service. During the tour, presented for area fire photographers, aircraft was dispatched to brush fires started by several lightning strikes in the area. Unfortunately I was shooting on tape and much of the footage from the tour was unusable (it happens!). I managed to piece together enough footage to make this video. Enjoy!
